The Newest Family Member

We adopted another "second-hand" beagle yesterday. Her name is Maggie and she is 3 years old. We had called on her earlier, but another family had adopted her. Then, we got a call that one of their children was quite allergic to her, so we took her in. This is Maggie's third home in her 3 years of life. The people that owned her last didn't have enough time to spend with her. One of the consequences is that she is about 10 pounds overweight. So, we have some work to do to get her healthy again. Bert, Abby, and Maggie have been enjoying their twice a day walks so far. Bert is such a great dog... he just wants to play with her and run around the yard. Abby is a little bitter about having another dog in the house. Since Abby always follows me around the house and wants to be as close to me as possible at all times, she gets jealous when Maggie is getting any attention. I am sure that will work itself out as they get to know each other and the routine.
I think we are a little crazy to have another dog in the house, but I know we have plenty of love to go around. Cole and Morgan are so excited about her and think it's cool that her name is Maggie, because that was our girl name if we would have had more kids. I am sure having another dog is easier than raising another child, right?
